Locality The locality is best known for its walking, particularly the South Downs Way, hiking and rambling and the surrounding countryside is also popular with cyclists and horse riders. The George and Dragon Pub is a short walk from The Thatched Barn, down Splash Farm Lane passing the pretty thatched Thomas Cottage and Splash Farm at the bottom of the lane. The pub can be found opposite St Mary’s Church and is a local attraction for starting and ending walks in the beautiful Sussex countryside. The town of Arundel with its castle, antique and gift shops, tea rooms and restaurants and shops, Swanbourne lake and the Wildlife Wetlands Trust are all a short distance away. The coastal towns of Littlehampton and Bognor Regis provide some of the best seaside and beaches in Sussex with windsurfing and kite surfing available from the beach. The long awaited East Beach Cafe opened in Littlehampton in June 2007. The nearby City of Chichester with its cathedral, shops and the world renowned Chichester Festival Theatre provide a perfect day or evening out. Yachting and boating can be enjoyed on the River Arun and at Littlehampton, with the Chichester Yacht marina for the larger vessels. Seasonal boat hire and trips on the river Arun are available near to the town bridge in Arundel. Other highlights in the locality are Glorious Goodwood Races, Fontwell Park Racing, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival, Arundel Gallery Trail and the Arundel Festival.
